Shane was a main character of the third season of the television series Scream. He was a former student at Weaver High School, where he would drop out of sometime in between, either after his sophomore year or in his junior year, in between August 2017 to June 2018 to take care of his ill, bed-ridden grandmother. Shane would then take up working as a drug dealer and a club promoter alongside 20-something year old Jamal Elliot, in order to financially provide for himself and his grandmother, adopting the alias Mr. Fade, who would engage in crime, such as robbery, in order to obtain and sell his supply. Shane would also be romantically involved with one of his former classmates and local goth and tattoo artist, 17-year old Beth, as his client, who he was in a fling either before or concurrent to the murders.
Shane would find himself thwarted into and his work reputation put at stake during the Atlanta Murders in October-November 2018, targeting Shane's former classmate, Marcus Elliot, alongside Beth and other of his former classmates, dubbed the Deadfast Club. Shane would himself be suspected as Ghostface and targeting the group, due to a silent disco party he threw resulting in the death of star quarterback, Avery Collins, who'd been a former client of Shane's, also due to Shane's criminal activity and estrangement as a high school dropout.
Shane would be the fourth victim of the Atlanta Murders, and in the overall Scream franchise, the twenty first male victim of Ghostface overall.
He was portrayed by Tyler Posey.

Shane is a a high school dropout. He is a drug dealer and party promoter who is always hustling in order to make money. But beneath that exterior, there's more to Shane than anyone realizes.
Biography
Early Life
Not much is known about Shane's early life, except that he was born approximately in June-October 30th, 2000 in Atlanta, Georgia, to unnamed parents, with one of them being the child of Shane's grandmother (due to the fact he is stated to be 18 in the events of the third season). Growing up, Shane would attend the same schools as Marcus Elliot, Kym, Amir Ayoub, Manny, Hawkins, Beth and Avery Collins, who in the summer of 2015, would enroll as a freshman at Weaver High School. He would attend the school, up until either after sophomore year or just before or during his junior year in between approx. August 2017 to June 2018, who would drop out in order to tend to his ailing grandmother. He would then take up drug dealing and club promoting as means of income in order to support himself and his grandmother. As a club promoter, Shane would work alongside Marcus's older half-brother, Jamal Elliot, who unbeknownst to him, was about to conspire alongside Shane's former fling, Beth, to commit an anniversary murder spree nearly eight years after the wrongful death of Marcus's twin brother, Deion Elliot; of who Shane would find himself later on set up by the killers as a prime suspect in order to commit the murders a year later, on Halloween week.

Shane would, during detention hours on Monday, October 29th, 2018, find himself sneaking onto the Weaver High School's library on the upper floors via the open window left by Beth, in order to promote a silent disco party he was hosting that night, for Halloween week; as well as to sell, showing a plastic Ziploc bag full of pills, announcing himself to Beth, Amir Ayoub, Manny, and Kym, as well as new student, Liv Reynolds (who was in the library aisle off-screen, who had been left on read in real time after Marcus Elliot left her and detention to meet up with Ghostface after getting sent a text to meet in the locker room).
Shane would then distribute orange fliers for his party, and who would be left with Beth alone in the library, in order to swoon and deal, as Beth announced to the others that they could wander off, only for them to return at 4:00 PM so they wouldn't repeat their detention again.
Later that night, Shane would be shown at the Old Metro Station, another abandoned warehouse, where he was shown outside at the entrance, collecting $20 payments for admission, as he gave partygoers in a bag each a set of headphones and complimentary Father Death costumes, much to the suspicion of Marcus. At the party, Shane would mingle with Beth, and who's party would be abruptly cancelled following the murder of Avery Collins at the hands of an actual Ghostface. Shane would try to talk to the Deadfast Club, consisting of Beth and the other of his former classmates and detention crew, to bounce with him, who would leave them on their own and split up, after they failed to go with him, following only the seven of them staying back to inspect Avery's corpse.
Shane would then fall victim, in a lure and set up, the next night, October 30th (referred to as Devil's Night as per the episode name), in a trap at the library after school by the Deadfast Club who had assumed he was the killer only for it to be a trap by the real killer, thus Shane being let go and free of suspicion. He would be lured by Beth, in order to set a deal with her, which shows him wearing the Ghostface costume in order to commit an armed robbery at an empty pharmacy during the day. After Shane was set free, he would find himself holding in a locked gated hallway Ghostface hostage, who was about to attack Kym, before he pistol whipped the killer down, briefly knocking them unconscious. Kym then implores Shane to shoot, who fumbles, due to being unable to pull himself to do it. This allows for Ghostface to awake as Kym heads to pull the gun away from Shane and do it herself and slash her across the arm, giving Ghostface a chance to escape on the other side of the locked hallway, holding his arms out in victory as Shane still looks at the killer but fails to shoot and kill him, much to Kym's disappointment. Shane would reunite with the group upon Marcus returning and be put on blast by Kym for failing to shoot the killer, which upsets the others. Shane would then ask Beth to leave with him, but she declines him in favor of her going with Amir instead, noting that at least she knows that he's not a "pussy". Shane then leaves angrily, bumping on purpose against Amir, as he goes to return home to tend to his grandmother.
Death
Tuesday, October 30th, 2018
After having proven his innocence of being the killer and failing to defeat Ghostface back at Weaver, Shane returns home to his apartment (unspecified if in either College Park or Atlanta) at night, who heads inside and who tends to his bed-ridden grandmother, as he drops off the drugs he robbed the pharmacy using the Ghostface costume earlier, who consoles his grandmother and both share a final moment, before being interrupted by pranksters egging the outdoor window of their apartment on the upper floor, as Shane reassures his grandma and states the infamous final last words "I'll be right back". Outside the apartment building, Shane looks to find the source of the prank, before being called by Ghostface, posing as a client, looking to score before revealing their killer identity, stating. Scared, Shane takes out his gun and warns the killer after finding a sign at the back door of the apartment spray painted in white letters, reading "COWARD", referring to his failure, as Shane claims he's not playing.
Ghostface states to him that they are (homage to Ghostface taunting his victims in the film franchise and playing games) and how they're playing "Chicken" and claims how Shane already blinked, as Shane claims how he did but not now, which the killer claims they'll see and tells Shane that they're now playing "Hide and Seek" and to come and find them before hanging up as the killer drops a brick on Shane's head, injuring him as Shane looks to the roof of the apartment, bleeding from the back of his head. Shane attempts to then access the ladder to go up to the roof, and already being disoriented, becomes trapped as suddenly the ladder falls down, trapping Shane via his head and upper body. Ghostface then approaches climbing down the ladder, as Shane tries to escape and who pleads with the killer, scared as he sees Ghostface taking out a needle before Ghostface injects a deadly dose of drugs via syringe into his eyes. This makes his eye turn purple and black and he foams at the mouth, ultimately killing him.

- Shane is a former student at Weaver High School.
- In a promotional teaser, Shane is called 'The Dropout'.
- Shane's birthday being in June-October 2000, would be similar to Vince Schneider's technical birthday in Scream (2022)
- Due to that Vince's original birthday in June 1999 would've misaligned with his age of death in September 2022 during the Third Woodsboro Murders as 22, how despite originally, the murders were in 2021 before being retconned in Scream VI (See Continuity Errors).
- Shane was in a no-strings attached, sexual based relationship with Beth until he was suspected of being the killer. Beth officially called things off with him once she found out that he couldn't shoot Ghostface.
- This is a reverse of Charlie Walker and Kirby Reed's relationship in Scream 4, in a reverse due to how Charlie is the one caught in a ploy and seemingly trapped in order to vie Kirby's affection for him and test her by stabbing her due to Kirby only being aware of him during the murders, and reveals himself out of costume.
- Similar in how Shane is trapped, but in an actual ploy, and Beth kills him without unmasking herself and each love interest (Shane and Kirby) is attacked by the killers due to testing the validity of what they're facing by them (Charlie and Beth); however, Shane doesn't survive, while Kirby does.
- Beth killing Shane and later, her accomplice and secret lover being Jamal Elliot, who was formerly Shane's co-worker, would be a reference to Jill Roberts killing both her ex, Trevor Sheldon, and her secret lover/accomplice, Charlie, during the Second Woodsboro Murders (2011), seeing as each trio knew each other (Jill, Charlie, and Trevor all seniors at Woodsboro High; Shane being Beth's former classmate from Weaver High, a co-worker with Jamal Elliot as a club promoter).
- Despite the differences in each, Shane's role as a drug dealer to support his bedridden grandmother is similar to that of the role of Fezco, a drug dealer on the HBO teen drama series, Euphoria.
- Unlike Shane, Fezco was stated to have an upbringing to drug dealing via his grandmother and him dropping out, while Shane is implied to have only taken drug dealing in order to support his and his dropping out, respectively.

- Shane is the third male character in the franchise that's killed not long after his first phone call with Ghostface, preceded by Randy Meeks in Scream 2 and Cotton Weary in Scream 3.
- He is succeeded, (albeit unknown to them, due to killer's conversation with him was unheard but regardless), by Brooks in Scream VI as the fourth, who died shortly after handing the phone to his older girlfriend and Ghostface survivor, Gale Weathers, for whom the call was meant for.
- Shane's use of the Ghostface costume in order to commit theft (not murder, unlike the other killers in the franchise) in order to conceal his identity, makes him the first character in the franchise to do so, thus far.
- Despite not being Ghostface, Shane being in costume while entering a store and committing a crime (theft), albeit during the day and in an empty pharmacy with just a pharmacist and who hold them at gunpoint, and who leaves knocking them out, is referenced for the first time in-universe almost 5 years later by Detective Wayne Bailey as Ghostface, chasing Tara and Samantha Carpenter at night into Abe's Snake Bodega in Scream VI, and unlike the latter, who chased the sisters into a busy bodega late at night and killed three (male) civilians, including the Bodega Clerk, he is similar to Shane in that he held someone at gunpoint, albeit different situations.
- Shane's later death which included the impalement of his eye by Beth as Ghostface via a needle, is loosely referenced and applied to Wayne's death after his reveal in the sixth film, reversed, seeing as Samantha as Ghostface attacks him before unmasking herself and then killing him unmasked by stabbing him in his eye.
- Both are the first (male) victims to be killed via eye impalement in the franchise, although each would be the second and third, being preceded by Cotton Weary's death also including being stabbed by Roman Bridger as Ghostface in the eye, albeit off-screen, in the opening scene/credits of the third film.
- Shane defending a protagonist (Kym) against Ghostface attempting to attack them (of who was uninjured, unlike Officer Richards in Scream 2), making him the fourth male character to do so, preceded by Dewey Riley in all five films, Cotton Weary in Scream 2, Tyson Fox in Scream 3, and who's succeeded by the three male Bodega victims (Burly Guy, second unnamed male victim, and the Bodega Clerk) during the New York Murders in the sixth film.
- However, unlike the latter three, Shane was the only character who hesitated in killing Ghostface, after knocking them out and having them held at gunpoint, much to the dismay of the protagonists (Kym revealing his failure to the Deadfast Club and Marcus Elliot, main protagonist), who's failure in not killing the killer, wound up being the reason for him becoming a victim.
- Shane defending Kym is similar, albeit reversed, in the finale of the Windsor College Murders from the second film, when Sidney Prescott was held with a knife to her throat by Nancy Loomis at the secluded college theatre stage, and Cotton Weary arrived armed with a gun, similarities being each had occurred at night, at an educational institution.
- Only difference being Kym was cornered in a vacant hallway at Weaver High and approached by Jamal Elliot as Ghostface, in costume, before Shane then appeared from behind to briefly knock Jamal out; where as Nancy held Sidney at knife point during Act 3 after she'd been revealed, out of costume, as Cotton then appeared in front of both of them, but similar in that Cotton and Shane would use their weapons to knock the killers out (Cotton firing a gunshot at Nancy, unlike Shane, who only used it to pistol whip Jamal unconscious).
- Sidney would then use Cotton's gun to shoot dead both her attempted killers (Nancy and Mickey), which Kym would do later in the finale as well, to Shane's former fling, Beth (an inverse, by using Jamal's gun instead and a reference to Kym trying to take Shane's gun away after her attempted attack, to shoot dead the unconscious Ghostface, before she was then attacked via arm slash by Jamal awakening).
- Shane’s death, by being trapped and who’s near a ladder, is an inverse to Riley Marra’s death in Season 1, in “Wanna Play a Game?”.
- Furthermore, his death by Ghostface by being trapped, is an homage to both Tatum Riley in the original Scream, Randy Meeks in Scream 2, as well as Sarah Darling and Jennifer Jolie in Scream 3, and Hook Man in this season.
- Shane's death via a ladder would be succeeded 5 years later to the exact date by Anika Kayoko's death, similarly, yet different, in Scream VI.
- Seeing as each were killed by Ghostface outside at night in the alleyway of their apartment buildings in each's city, despite Shane not being wounded or stabbed unlike Anika, as Shane was trapped by ladder falling down on him, trapping him as he fell back, locking his head in, while Anika fell off the ladder trying to escape by crawling before Ghostface tilted the vertical ladder, causing her to fall.
- Shane’s death by Ghostface via a lethal injection (full of drugs) with a needle then inserted in his eye, making him thus far, the first and only victim to be killed by a killer or Ghostface in this manner; marking him as the first non-traditional kill (no Bowie knife), as well as the first drug induced death by Ghostface or any other killer in the entire Scream franchise.
- Similarly, in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (which was written by Wes Craven), the titular Freddy Krueger (portrayed by Robert Englund), kills one of the main characters, Taryn White (portrayed by Jennifer Rubin) by impaling her with drug needles.
- Shane is the third character on the TV series that is Latino after Gustavo Acosta and his father, Miguel Acosta, from Season 2 (however, his actor, Tyler Posey, is white but whose ethnicity is Hispanic due to being Mexican from his mother's side, thus corroborating).
- Although Jake Fitzgerald from the first two seasons is shown to know a little Spanish, it is unknown if either one of his parents has Latin or Spanish roots, and due to his last name having an English background (Jake's actor, Tom Maden, is also white and it isn't noted if his parents are Hispanic or not).
- If Jake is Latino or has Spanish roots, he would've been the first Latino male in the TV series and of the franchise, but disregarded, given to the Acosta father and son duo in Season 2.
- However, the first Latino (in this case, a female. thus Latina) character in the Scream franchise is actually Dawnie from Scream 2, as her actress Marisol Nichols, has Mexican heritage.
